Trying to stay human in a world full of machines.
Human being doing his best to protect his idea of a "good world to live in".

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ I like hacking, repairing and upcycling.
๐Ÿ”’ I value data privacy and human rights.
๐Ÿชด I love nature, animals and tropical plants.
โœŠ Tech (alone) won't save us.

Comment if you have done this! ๐Ÿ˜‚

The goal is to make corporate data less profitable.

Even stuff as simple as setting your birthdate to 1970-01-01 everywhere, adding [TEST] or [DELETED] as your name or account notes anywhere you don't need them to know your name.

Using plugins like AdNauseam to poison ad trackers (and cost them marketing dollars).

Using VPNs set to different locations.

Signing into data broker sites to "correct" outdated info (they'll often let you do that with little-to-no proof of identity, but will require your passport or state ID in order to delete your info). Bonus points if you correct it to someone else's info on their site that's similar to yours.

Only fill in required fields when you sign up for anything, but only provide correct info if it matters for you to use the service, otherwise provide plausible, but incorrect, data.

If you use LLMs anywhere, use the free tier and always vote thumbs up for bad answers and down for good ones. It wastes their resources and drives up their costs while making their training data worse.

Pokรฉmon Go players thought they were catching Pikachus.

They were actually building the nervous system for robot civilization.

500M humans. 30B images. Zero consent forms.

The game was the harvest.

Today the EU Parliament said NO. โŒ

Voluntary scanning by Outlook, Gmail, LinkedIn, etc. might come to an end on April 6 in the EU. Keep pushing everyone! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅณ

I need #hope
Every day I wake up in a world ruled by evil people, and sometimes I think that all my efforts to be a decent human are worthless.
So #Fediverse , I need hope.
I'd love to know good news from around the world, things that can cheer me up and help me (and others like me) keep doing my part for a better society. I need to know there's still good in this world.
Thank you.

@gilraen79 your efforts are not worthless, even if lately it might feel like they are.
They are an important part of the many other small acts of kindness, respect, love and altruism that many other people around the world are doing to make the world better.
Let's keep it up, we need them more than ever!

Good News! ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘€

I am delighted to finally announce today what I've been working on in the past few weeks:

Privacy Guides' new Activism section!
https://privacyguides.org/activism/

The Activism section offers a new way to empower the digital rights community. It will progressively grow with more tools to support the community in its privacy activism effort, both for individuals and organizations ๐Ÿ’›

As Privacy Guides' new Activism & Outreach Lead, I will be working hard on developing this section even further in the coming weeks, adding many more tools to support our community.

I hope this can be a helpful resource for anyone who is ready to fight for privacy rights โœŠ๐Ÿ”’

It is time! After 4 years at my current job, I am in need of change. I'm looking for a new role in the world of SRE, infrastructure, and platform building. I've worked on building clouds, building on clouds, moving to clouds, moving from clouds, and all other sorts of things that do not sound real to people who do not work in tech.

I thrive in environments with autonomy, especially ones where technical teams aren't just given freedom to decided how to build things, but allowed input on what and when too. I've built resilient and reliable platforms for which I've had no issue being on-call, with team health coming first.

Based in Berlin, Germany, but looking for ideally remote/possibly hybrid opportunities.
