Turns out: everything is ready for the rollout of end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging in France, both on Apple's end and on the carriers’.

The blocker is (*surprise*) the French government, which wants to be able to keep snooping on people's text conversations.

As some of you may know, we're building Flatline, a self‑hostable soft fork of the Signal Server. It lets you run a mostly Signal‑compatible server for research and private deployments.

We already run a Flatline server in Bahnhof cloud for internal development.

We've added a JSON API making it easier for services to permit GrapheneOS in addition to Google-certified operating systems:

https://grapheneos.org/attestation.json
https://grapheneos.org/attestation.json.sig

The verifiedBootKeys array lists GrapheneOS key fingerprints to permit via Android hardware attestation.

Why nationalist and patriotic views in technology don't work.

Les points sur les /e/

Le 14 avril 2026 a été re-publié sur le site de la Gabarre un article de Romain Leclaire (GrapheneOS contre Projets Libres) concernant le conflit ancien et récurrent entre deux projets d’OS sur (...)

@GrapheneOS The contact scopes and storage scopes features are absolute game changers for privacy. Being able to give a curated list of my contacts to say, WhatsApp, is a very powerful feature.
@GrapheneOS As someone who has been using grapheneos since pixel 3, I'd say any claims of lack of usability are nonsense. I now have a pixel 8 with grapheneos and my wife has the same. My eldest child has a pixel 7 with grapheneos and all of my children have a pixel tablet with grapheneos installed.
The only app I've found that didn't work was a banking app that used play integrity. I have four other banking apps that work just fine.

@GrapheneOS @jsa @Fnordinger @cutesobri GOS also gives me way more control over my own phone, and honestly that's something everyone should want.

Secure and private software is for anyone who wants to use it, and for varying amounts of threat level. The amount of privacy, security, and control that GOS provides *should* just be the baseline for every mobile OS, but companies like Murena and /e/OS muddy the waters with misleading marketing.

Security/privacy theatre is dangerous.

@GrapheneOS @jsa @Fnordinger @cutesobri The entire point that GOS is only used by criminals is such an exhausted and cliche argument at this point. It's used against almost any privacy/security project. It's the same argument that governments use to justify encryption backdoors, age verification, and many other invasive technologies.

I'm a "law-abiding citizen" by every metric and rulebook, but I use GrapheneOS because I don't want Google and many other companies tracking everything I do.

@kuketzblog LineageOS is by far the most used alternative mobile OS and yet we don't have threads on our timeline about it. That's because LineageOS as an organization isn't misleading people about GrapheneOS and trying to harm us.

/e/ and their supporters are engaging in concerted efforts to mislead people about GrapheneOS and cause personal harm to our team. Each of our threads about it has been made to provide accurate information in response to their inaccurate claims about GrapheneOS.
