One more painting based entirely on the thrifted frame I found. The frame is kind of chunky and over the top, so I went with a very unsubtle design.
My skinny little “pencil” Christmas tree is finally up! I’ve been so scattered this season, I was sure I’d go without it, but I took an hour and a couple trips into the attic, and now it’s up! Feels like Christmas, finally.
A kind of deceptively simple abstract, in that thus is made up of so many layers of metallics, glazes, drips and varnishes.
Ew work in progress, even though I still have far too many paintings in my house. Hard to see, but there’s many layers of texture and metallics in this one.
My indoor herb garden was doing absolutely nothing until 3 days ago or so, when the seeds suddenly decided to wake up.
Very last painting before tonight’s self-imposed cutoff to wire, price, and organize all the works I’m taking to the Makers’ Market on Sunday. It’s moody and dark, and I like this direction.
A tiny square panel that was supposed to have crackle paint and a wreath painted on it, but the crackle paint chipped off a lot, so I kept adding spare bits of paint and varnish and mica powder, and now it looks like some sort of mineral deposit. Very shiny!
The makers’ market is in three days, and I’m finishing up production work on the things I think I can sell a number of. It’s been a bit of a challenge to figure out how to learn and be excited with repeating similar works, but that’s part of trying to be a working artist.
Mom gave me an old, mass-produced oil painting in a rather nice frame and I decided to see what I could do with painting over it in various varnishes, gold leaf and mica powders. The resulting possibly one of the prettiest paintings I’ve made so far.
A small preview of my holiday art canvases that I’m making. The top left is what will be sent to my friends who asked for one…the rest are the same first batch, but framed in thrifted frames, and I’m considering making a bunch to sell at the market this weekend, framed and not.
