A COMPUTER CANNOT FIND OUT

THEREFORE A COMPUTER MUST NEVER BE ALLOWED TO FUCK AROUND

How would you like to #verify your age? Take a pic? Or search for your ID in #security #breaches?

Folks with #ADHD... what's your retry/failure rate when it comes to making tea? On average, how many times do you have reheat the water? Or number of mugs that went cold with the tea bag still in them.

I love tea, but it's so hard to make for me!!

I’ve been practicing being grateful for all the things that have vanished from my life due to the inexorable passage of time, without succumbing to grief and mourning for the loss.

I asked the Nostalgia Nerd once if #retrocomputing ever made him sad. He said it didn’t, and I couldn’t fathom how that was possible. I looked at these machines of my youth and wept for the optimism and hope for the world I had back then, before everything went to shit.

That still happens to me from time to time, but I’m working hard on seeing it not as a loss, but as an experience in itself, decoupled from shattered expectations and phantom dreams. Something that can be enjoyed for what it was (and is), not lamented for what it was “supposed to be”.

I bought 256GB RAM in 2024, so now I understand how smug boomers must feel about buying houses.
The shitty secret nobody likes talking about is that humans are pretty fucking bad at writing code too.

#ICYMI, here's a detailed article from @eff entitled, "10 (Not So) Hidden Dangers of Age Verification".

Review this to understand better why age verification on the Internet is a horrible freedom-suppressing idea.

10 (Not So) Hidden Dangers of Age Verification

It’s nearly the end of 2025, and half of the US and the UK now require you to upload your ID or scan your face to watch “sexual content.” A handful of states and Australia now have various requirements to verify your age before you can create a social media account.Age-verification laws may sound...
