The release of #GhostBSD 26.1 with #XLibre is approaching.

Together, we fixed a bug in the X configuration. Now we're looking for testers of the latest ISO https://ci.ghostbsd.org/jenkins/job/stable-15/job/Build%20ISO%20For%20Testing%20Packages in VMware, KVM, and bhyve. #Xfce will keep #X11 compatibility for the foreseeable future besides their work on their Xfwl4 #Wayland compositor. That's stated at https://wiki.xfce.org/releng/wayland_roadmap#long_term_goals and still holds true as verified with some Xfce developers. We're happy to provide an X11 server to run Xfce on. #XLibre

The #Vendefoul Wolf #Linux maintainers recently introduced their #Viriato series based on #Devuan 7 Freia. They ship both #XLibre and #Xorg as well as the #KDE and #SonicDE desktop environments. You can download the testing ISO at https://vendefoul-wolf-linux.sourceforge.io/ . Look for "Devuan 7".

The #XLibre Xserver 25.1.1 and the 25.0.x drivers are now available on the latest #Vipnix LiveCD. It also ships with the #Nvidia beta driver 590.44.01, supports RTX 5080 GPUs, and has been thoroughly tested on RTX 3070 cards. The @openmandriva devs are demoing their distribution with #XLibre at #FOSDEM in Brussels. They brought an #AMD BC250, a #GPD MicroPC 2 UMPC, a #Radxa Orion O6 #ARMv9 SBC, and a #Steam Deck, all running XLibre on #OpenMandriva Cooker.

They said, "OpenMandriva is pleased to announce the launch of the most expensive marketing program in history at FOSDEM." ;-) You can experience this gem at booth H4.

Anders Rytter Hansen @anders managed to get #XLibre and #XFCE running on #AlmaLinux 10.1 by compiling from source. According to him, it is a challenge because Red Hat removed all #Xorg packages from #RHEL 10.

He says: "But with enough effort I succeeded and I'm happy with my result, because now I can enjoy the performance and compatibility benefits of XLibre on a stable enterprise-grade distribution."
