In the UK, there's a lot of subsidy available for heat pumps. Unless they have a cooling feature, in which case they don't qualify. Because the regulations were written by idiots.
One enterprising vendor sells heat-only heat pumps that have an 'after-market upgrade' to add the cooling functionality, which is a single resistor, so you can get the heat-only version installed with the subsidy and then add a resistor and get the more useful version.
To counter the persistent idea that I'm one of the nicest people on the Fedi, I'd just like to tell every one here that you are all a bunch of stupid stinky heads.
I didn't want to have to go there, but this is what you've made me become.
