A neurodivergent hyper-focus account about houses and the gothic, cleverly disguised as promoting our book. Follow for horrific housing Q&A, imaginary real estate, art & music about houses.

All opinions expressed here are from a creaky old house with rats in the attic. Don't ask about the basement.

Winslow has been fact checking our end notes. And possibly getting ideas from Puss in Boots.

“Hamlet had got away with it; why should not she? But there had been doubts about Hamlet.”

– Elizabeth Bowen “The Heat of the Day”

#ScribesAndMakers 6/1 Choose an adjective to describe how you feel about your creativity this month.

A is for Anxious.

Too many moving parts. Not creating anything new, but getting the stuff out. And waiting to hear on a submission. Though we really want to create something new. It would make us feel more grounded.

#ScribesAndMakers 31st May ~ How confident are you feeling in your creative project(s) after this month?

A: Mixed. We got a lot done this month but are behind on releasing the book. There were setbacks. There was ADHD.

But we also made some good (final!) revisions to some endings that weren’t completely satisfying. We also got a very nice blurb for the cover.

Ghost trains are not uncommon, but few are prolific as the St. Louis Light, Saskatchewan's famous ghost train. Sometimes a full train, sometimes simply a light, some say it is the ghost of a braker, his head removed by a train he missed, haunting the tracks. #PhantomsFriday

We are thinking how this could easily be the domicile of one of our characters, on #FensterFreitag.

We’re curious, #writers, how often do you take photos and think (then or later) they could be from your work?

#ScribesAndMakers May 29: Our next featured creator has done creative work with math(s). Does math(s) ever feature in any way in your creative work?

A: Maybe some creative accounting …

We are terrible at math, and would never attempt real number matters. But our story “The Once-Moved” is written from a cat’s perspective and she conceives of people as synesthesiac expressions. For instance:

[sight/smell: round+soft = (Feeds-and-Pets)]

Therefore the name becomes “Feeds/and-Pets”
