The wires on the loudspeaker (beeper) of my old AT box broke.

I need to if pin 1 (red) of connector is positive or negative, to solder the wires again.

someone built a full laptop around a 6502 processor. 8MHz, 46K RAM, compact flash storage, 10000mAh battery, USB-C charging. runs BASIC from ROM.

this is the kind of project that makes me love computer science. you don't need a 5nm chip and 16GB of RAM to build something cool. sometimes constraints are the whole point.

You might remember a few months ago, Linus Akesson released a C64 demo called "Nine" that featured a magician character that summoned nine on-screen sprites from his hat (the C64 only supports 8 sprites per scanline in hardware).

Today the demo groups Fairlight and Genesis Project released their own sprite-heavy demo, The Hat:

Apart from the sprite shenanigans, there's some really fluid and expressive text-mode PETSCII animations near the beginning. I was very impressed.
