I saw someone say "I don't care" after saying I really liked a song on TikTok and the comeback I had was "I think you're lying". They sure cared enough to respond. I realized in that moment though that you could say that to basically any toxic statement. It definitely would be gaslighting, so only for self defense when they're unambiguously in bad faith. Worked better than I expected since they put way more energy into explaining their thing than I put in not believing them.
