US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a "great settlement" with Iran to end the Middle East war, saying he expected a deal to be signed in Europe in the coming days. Trump's claim came just hours after he promised fresh strikes against Iran, before saying that he was calling them off as a deal approached. There was no confirmation from Iran. Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon killed at least 13 people on Wednesday as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the Lebanese people to join Israel's fight against Hezbollah. Israeli forces seized a local councillor and a municipal worker from the border town of Kfarshuba, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said, while Israel said it "apprehended" two people who approached its soldiers.
