Spaceship pilot, BattleMech driver, pusher of buttons.

Bearly sentient most of the time. Often grumpy.

So far on the spectrum, even Captain Scarlet wants me to calm the hell down.

And then the rest of the hardware in the damn thing decides to die...

I *just* wanted to burn two ISO's...

Unsurprisingly Linux installs just fine...

This whole adventure started because the machine hadn't been used in 5 years, spent 6+ hours spinning its wheels trying to do updates whilst its spinning rust cooked itself to death and I thought:

I'll throw 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD in this heap and be up and running again in like an hour.

I just wanted to burn the restore DVD's for a G5 iMac and this laptop is the only machine in the house with an actual DVD-RW in it.

That's all. 2 ISO files on to blank media.

JFC... I'd forgot how much of a royal bastard Windows can be when everything isn't just perfect.

"Ohhh noes I can't find all my install files."

Bitch you were just created by the MS tool, downloaded from the MS website and fed all your data from that same website... 10MIN AGO!

"We can't create a partition..."

Who's this "WE"? I can do it fine, look see there's diskpart, the very tool you god damn use under the hood doing it manually.

"No drive detected."

You're just fucking with me now aren't you? I know you are because the BIOS can see it just fine... and so could you 5min ago.

*glares at Thinkpad T410*

Keep this shit up and you're going to be running Windows 3.11...

It is way WAY too hot & humid to be fighting with Microsoft's pissy installer.

My other half went to a cat place this weekend and we're being vetted for adopting a 5yr old English long hair called "fluffy".

I'm not sure why we'd fail the vetting but apparently the road is an issue... which is fine... but I'm kind of sat here going "What do they expect?" as if we'd had a catio enclosure we'd still have lost Belle and also had a very pissed fox trapped in the back garden.

Nobody expected a fox to be able to climb like a sodding cat and go rooftop to rooftop.

Other half demanded I post this...

Right it's way to hot to think... I've got all three Scanners & Deep Star Six queued up with Millennium (the movie) for afters.

Brain off... 1980's sillyness on.

31c and rising???
