What’s at stake is whether “protecting children” becomes a legal pretext for embedding government control over the internet to enforce specific moral and religious judgments—judgments that deny marginalized people access to speech, community, history, and truth—into law.

So much for shorts weather. At least I have my stylish #LibreOffice hoodie to keep me warm.
Horses can't use laptops.
They use maneframes.

"This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper"
Thus, with a faint clicking noise, the staff at The Gamers' Tavern turned off the lights in the Discord server many of us called home for almost 4 years.
I won't waste your time explaining how Discord has lost its way, or the heavy toll its latest choices have taken on the most fragile and persecuted among us. I will instead tell you that we will always fight those choices, even when it will be hard, hard as leaving our digital home.
But worry not friends, for we have a new home. The Gamers' Tavern is now on Discourse (a self hosted instance in EU, protected by GDPR). Answering the most common doubt, Discourse is a forum but also has chat functionalities and we are customising it following the community needs and feedbacks. Plus...we may have other news soon 👀 just sayin'.
We will always fight for you and your rights to privacy and being safe.
We will always fight to protect our users and keep our part of the public staff contract (more here) and respecting the rules
We will always strive to be a cosy, safe and heartwarming community, may it be in this tool or that tool.
If you want to know more or taste first hand if I'm telling the truth, join us @ TGT's Discourse instance
