we live in a poor part of town. once a month my wife puts up a display in the library for the kids. this month's topic is the neighbourhood.
0 guesses at why kids love living in this part of the city the most. 😻
“The King was welcoming and was engaged, asking questions about what is happening on First Nations and how Treaties are being implemented and honoured. He is committed to upholding the honour of the #Crown under #Treaty.”
Leaders from Treaty 6 First Nations met this week with His Majesty, King Charles III during a historic private audience at Buckingham Palace, marking a significant moment in the ongoing Treaty relationship between Treaty 6 First Nations and the Crown. The meeting was brief, but meaningful, particularly given the historic significance of the Crown meeting with First Nations of Treaty 6 in the year of the 150th anniversary of the signing of that Treaty.
So I got #gancio (https://gancio.org) setup for some communities to try out.
I love this platform so very much! It does one thing, sharing local community events, very well in a fast, no frills kind of way.
Not the most beautiful landing page but it fits with the design philosophy.
❤️ The Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk is on Saturday! If you would like to donate to my local gender-inclusive shelter for people fleeing domestic violence I would be eternally grateful!
I will be walking the 2.5km route this year*
My goal is $2000, I am at $1350. Every little bit counts!
You can donate here: https://walk.w-ith.me/Chris

Thank you generous #fediverse #mastodon friends! ❤️
*for those that have driven through #PortAlberni on the way to Tofino, the event is at the Legion, right at the bottom of the highway at the river where you turn right toward the West Coast. We do a loop around the 3-4 blocks in that area.

Thank you for your vote in advance… I also will be sure to show up.
It would be very easy for people to check out in frustration with this stuff and end up not voting, so this is my first of many reminders to everyone that not participating will *not* be viewed as a protest, nor will a low turn out convince them that the results are illegitimate or don’t constitute a mandate. The only way to take wind out of their sails is to deliver a sound and clear defeat. That will require *every* progressive, compassionate, clear-thinking Canadian in Alberta to show up and make their views known.
