Profile Picture alt textBlack shadows of a skull, tilted and looking upward slightly, as though laughing, perhaps. The background is green, towards teal, and patterned with darker green horizontal lines that are very fine and technical-feeling.
Header Image alt textThe name Traiken on a black background. The letters have an old CRT television pattern on them, and transition from green to white with some blue and red as a slight color separation. There is a pattern interruption through the name, glitch art like.

@venya @johncomic I’ve had a Huion Kamvas for a couple of years; the functionality is good. Some things have burnt into the screen (I thought only old tube TVs had that issue), but it mostly just affects the color, and isn’t enough to throw off its usefulness
@CCirco @sknob Yeah, having that kind of gathering point is what's missing a lot of the time, and what contributes to the fractured feeling of everything. Hell, I can't imagine even watching a TV show at a time that isn't of my choosing, so that kind of "on-demand" model seems very infused in everything, but it leads to everyone being in their own little worlds and disconnected, despite the ability to connect supposedly being better than ever.

I mean, you could self-mandate to care and take proactive preventive measures. Like, normalize wearing cute KN95s everywhere and make some efforts to improve ventilation and air filtration indoors. Get your folks involved. Inspire your communities to flatten the curve for realsies.

We could look back at the last four years as a bumpy, misguided, troubled time before we finally rallied together and brought Covid legitimately under control.

No? You wanna keep playing in Hard Mode?

*sigh*

@CCirco For me, it has more to do with 6 years of isolation and friends drifting away. But the prospect of how to make new friends in this fractured world is definitely the kind of problem social media SHOULD be used for
@CCirco Joking around with friends; discussing art and media; telling stories; exploring philosophy; just about anything that's friendly, collaborative, and doesn't have a character limit. Something where I get to expound on ideas and get feedback. Something where I get to make someone laugh and they do the same to me.
I'm afraid of getting run over by an 18-wheeler.
"Well, here's what we'll do: You lie down in the road, and I'll run you over with a sedan."
What
"That way, you'll already be dead, and you won't have to worry anymore."
But
"And it only has four wheels, so you should be fine."
I'm afraid of sharks.
"Why?"
They have sharp teeth and could bite me.
"So you get bitten. So what?"
Then I would die.
"But sharks have to eat to live. It's a natural cycle. What's the big deal?"
I TOLD YOU THE SCARY PART ALREADY
"People die every day. What, you think you're better than people?"
@bazkie It is definitely not the first time I've pondered the question "what if the Borg assimilated depression," which should tell you how often I've thought about both depression and Star Trek
@bazkie The borg assimilated someone with depression and now they just stand around in their recharging ports all day but it never seems to do enough
I miss having conversations.
