Stepped outside to go for a walk over lunch, and spotted a dead bird on the sidewalk. A few feet away was another Cedar Waxwing, absolutely refusing to leave the side of the deceased one
I sat down next to it and was able to take this picture from just a few inches away.
The bird hopped a few steps away, but didn't go far.
When I walked away it returned to the other bird's side.
Hard not to anthropomorphize its actions as grief
