I could not get the #Mastodon #verification to work, no matter how I implemented the rel="me" link into my single static homepage.

So, I swapped out my homepage with a basic index.html (see screenshot).

✅ It worked!

For those who are also struggling with this:

1. Rename existing index file
2. Replace it with basic index.html
3. Remove link from Mastodon settings and save
4. Re-add link to Mastodon settings and save.
5. Check your profile ✅
6. Restore your site

That should do the trick!
