Ted Lasso is, hands down, the best television I’ve ever watched.

You want to know why you should hire a veteran?
1) They can learn / they can be taught.
2) they know how to own things. They’re the people you can delegate a task to and not worry about it getting done.

They may call it “mission-oriented.”

It’s ownership.

Last episode of Picard was great. And I got to update a Wikipedia entry. #stoked
How do people implement issuing corporate laptops (imaging, software install, etc) when the entire company is WFH? Do they buy them, ship them to one IT person for config, and then mail on to the new employee?

At @vetsec we're dedicated to supporting veterans in finding meaningful employment. Veterans face higher rates of underemployment and unemployment, and we're committed to changing this. With their unique qualities such as discipline, leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, veterans are a perfect fit for any company, including the cybersecurity industry. By providing tailored training and resources, we're empowering veterans to thrive in their careers and positively impact their mental well-being. Let's honor our veterans by creating opportunities for their success. #veteransemployment #cybersecuritycareers #veteransupport

I've come to the realization that I don't have to have a focus for my social sharing. I appreciate the people on social media that share all of who they are - I think that's why I'm so appreciative of shows like #Shrinking and #TedLasso, and S3 of #Picard lately.

I'll be starting up my own site where I'll be blogging about everything - Trek, things I've learned from the military, running
@vetsec, my role at Cloud Range, and more. I hope you'll take the time to check it out as I share just a little more, in hopes of building just a bit more connectedness amongst us all in this world. I welcome comments there and debate - it keeps us all sharp.

With that said, please check it out at https://thomasmarsland.com . Thanks!

Out of all the ways the Congressional Budget Office could think of, they thought of taking money from veterans and children first? WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Reduce Spending on Other Mandatory Programs | Congressional Budget Office

Background Mandatory spending on programs other than Social Security and the major health care programs (referred to as other mandatory spending in this option) accounted for 50 percent of mandatory outlays and 36 percent of all outlays in 2021. Most of the outlays for other mandatory programs in that year were for temporary programs (or temporary expansions to existing programs) established in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

There are certifications around the theory of computing, networking, and security, but there aren’t any hands-on competency based certs that aren’t vendor specific or that aren’t security focused. Would there be a demand for training and certification around vendor neutral solutions for systems administration?
