To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the #Fediverse. On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.

That thing where your cat stares into empty space with darkening eyes. Not spooky at all.

My lunch date cancelled. I get to stay in PJs all day 🥳 To nap or not to nap, that is the question 😴

Will be interesting to see if my energy levels improve as I recover from chemo. Treatment recovery is my new adventure. I am managing to write again, with #nanowrimo2022 helping me show up at my laptop daily. Have set myself a lower (25k) word limit as I do tire quickly. There were times I was scared I'd never write again, so this has been a good week 🎉

I read this elsewhere: If trusted news outlets would start offering #Mastodon instances to their staff, that would bring some sort of verification and visibility. Think social.nytimes.com, social.heise.de etc. I'd love to read more from trusted journalists on the #fediverse and this could greatly help. (Again, not my idea but couldn't find the original author.) Boosts for visibility would be great. Reminder: Favorites don't help as on this other platform.

We have a lot of blind and partially sighted users on the fediverse. Accessibility is important here, and as such, it's good form to include image descriptions (alt text) when we add media to our posts.

When someone uses a screenreader to read the timeline, and the screenreader comes to an image with no alt text, it just says 'image' (as far as I know). That's boring, unhelpful, and provides no clue as to what the image actually *is*.

This differs slightly depending on how you're using (cont)

Feels so peaceful here. Having fun exploring and finding interesting people to follow.

I've been going through aggressive treatment for cancer this year. Now that I am in recovery mode hoping to get back on my feet and re-engage with life. Just need my chemo brain to cooperate.

My interests include #writing, #reading London fringe #theatre (was an #Offies assessor) and advertising strategy (day job).

Planning to do #nanowrimo2022 with a low target to gently ease myself back into writing.
