A rich Chinese heritage is recognised and celebrated in Whau, Auckland, with a local park now carrying the name of its last private owner, Avondale Market gardener Lowe Nam.
Whau Local Board chair Kay Thomas says the decision reflects pride in the area’s diverse history.
“Chinese New Zealanders are an integral part of our story, and we are proud to honour their heritage as part of our vibrant, multicultural community.”
@xurizaemon I'm in Palmerston nth for an inaugural tenant union hui, and sorry to say, there's only about 10 advocate NGOs looking to leverage their lobby clout by amalgamating. No grass roots movement at all.
People are apathetic, busy earning money, short of attention... without sustainable membership and organisation I think these initiatives fade away or become empty vessels.
If the tech union is salvageable I think that you'd be a good rep.
