Laws about bank robbery also make bank robbery unworkable as a legal business.

Following the man-baby’s Tariff announcement, I think the rest of the world should immediately:
* start a consumer boycott of anything American;
* move their exports from America to other nations (with Government assistance);
* start making new trade agreements in Euro rather than $US;
* uninvite the man-baby and his various toadies from all future international meetings; and
* stop passing all forms of intelligence to the USA.

This is the moment to cross our arms and turn our backs on the USA - show them there is a real cost to voting a man-baby into office and sit back and watch them tear themselves apart.

🇪🇺🇿🇦 Strengthening our unique bond in Cape Town.

Today, President von der Leyen attended the EU-South Africa Summit.

We agreed to start talks on the first-ever Clean Trade and Investment Partnership, focusing on clean energy, technology, and local jobs.

We also announced a €4.7 billion Global Gateway investment package to boost clean energy projects, infrastructure, and the local pharmaceutical industry.

Our strong cooperation matters more than ever.

You know why we Germans are so pedantic about data protection? Someone around 90 years ago went through all records available, selected people with certain criteria, with the help of IBM, and then killed them all.

We don't want to be on any list.

And now the US Gov and Musk are trying to get access to all data they have about every person and put them into a big fat DB and run AI over it.

I am afraid what they will do with that.

For those of us who are increasingly in positions where we cannot count on the rule of law to protect our digital privacy or security, here are some thoughts on how to threat model for your community: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/02/building-community-privacy-plan
Building a Community Privacy Plan

Everyone's security plans and situations will always be different, which is why we often say that security and privacy are a state of mind, not a purchase. But the first step is always taking a look at your community and figuring out what's needed and how to get everyone else on board.

If you want to learn how Chinese phishing or "smishing" groups are turning phished card data into mobile wallets, check out today's story. The innovation coming out of these groups is remarkable, and includes mobile apps that let thieves relay "ghost tap" NFC transactions to a payment terminal from halfway around the world.

What I find most remarkable is how millions of businesses have spent years and billions of dollars upgrading payment terminals to use more secure chip-based cards. And now these phishers come along and just bypass all of that, creating Apple and Google mobile wallets with the phished card data and a one-time code.

Here's the lede:

Carding — the underground business of stealing, selling and swiping stolen payment card data — has long been the dominion of Russia-based hackers. Happily, the broad deployment of more secure chip-based payment cards in the United States has weakened the carding market. But a flurry of innovation from cybercrime groups in China is breathing new life into the carding industry, by turning phished card data into mobile wallets that can be used online and at main street stores.

The minimum wage debate shows just how many people are clinging to oversimplified models and ignoring real-world evidence in favour of what is little more than an economic ideology.

The track record is clear: modest minimum wage increases do not cause substantial job losses.

Anyone still insisting otherwise in the face of decades of data is economically fucking illiterate.

Paying a living wage won’t fuck the world. - @westenberg - Medium

Economic conservatives have long held that raising the minimum wage is a surefire recipe for job destruction. Any mandated increase in labor costs, the argument goes, will cause employers to slash…
