I think the reason "can games be art" was/is so hotly debated, is because people are of the weird opinion that there's a real distinction between, "high" and "low" brow art.

Art is a kind of communication through aesthetic/excellence in control of a medium, either to a specific person/group, or the world broadly.

There's no way to be high or low class with that, only effective or ineffective. The question should be; "can games be good?"

And we've had that answer since, "tag." #gaming

It's insane watching the the encampments for Palestine on campuses in the US right now, and universities making the same malicious decisions they did back during Nam.

Academia as an institution is no more enlightened or impervious to corruption as any other in a world where capital is power, and power is all. I've known this for a while, but it sure as fuck does nothing to make any new realization sting less -🌺
