I rarely post about work things but with all the uncertainty in the job market lately I thought it would be worth posting about some infra roles which have opened in our group

Currently only the Grade 7 has been listed but there should be a Grade 8 within the next week or so too.

We build and run Trusted Research Environments for working with confidential / sensitive health data (see BioBank news for reasons why this is important).

My day to day is mostly writing Terraform, CloudFormation, shell scripts and occasionally helping users use computers.

Despite being a job based in Dundee, I'm based in Nottingham, so we're definitely open to remote hires from around the UK.

We're a very small team in a slightly larger group, fairly well isolated from all the chaos (and job redundancies) across the rest of the uni.

I know the appalling heat is doing far worse things, but I have now been personally victimised by it after Charlie and I both admitted to each other that we were now secretly dreading standing in the baking sun for the event we'd been so excited about for months and have decided not to go because it feels like it would be gruelling rather than fun. If anyone a bit more robust than us would like tickets for #AlanisMorissette at #PowderhamCastle tomorrow get in touch. The tickets were £88 each and you can have our shuttlebus tickets from Exeter central and overnight camping pass for free.

Tickets were bought through ticketmaster and have been somehow attached to our Google wallets so we need to figure out how to transfer them if anyone's interested. But unfortunately I think anyone who wants to see Alanis Morissette is probably of a similar vintage to us and equally unlikely to want to stand in a field in this.
