if people stopped giving all these corporations their age or id/kyc info and just canceled their subscriptions or accounts for 4 months we'd see how fast they stop asking once those next quarter results show up.
governments would wake up pretty fast with less VAT, GST, and Tax revenue, too. you give them an inch and they will take a mile. cut that inch and cut their source of revenue, and they will all fall in line.
that is the only solution to all these stupid laws.
🚫 If internet access demands ID checks, age verification, vaccines, KYC, chat surveillance, or SIM registration... is it still a "PUBLIC space"?

I've used Slackware, RedHat/Fedora, Arch, Ubuntu/Kubuntu, Debian, Kali and others. I had fun. What stuck with me was KDE Desktop & Snapper Rollback. Never really vibed to Gnome. I've been OpenSuse since 2020, but it's not for everyone. I recommend Linux Mint if you're fresh into Linux from Windows. Linux isn't really that hard to learn, but you won't know what's important until you try a few.
Cheers to that concept. Every client should be a server to reduce gatekeeping. So on with independence and self-hosting. That's what we've chosen!
@nixCraft THIS is a problem, because AI often quotes popular opinion over facts, even in legal advice, quoting jurisprudence above actual law. A huge percentage of people will never verify until their eyes are opened.
We must keep factual sites and archives alive despite the AI overreach until humanity catches up.
Our kids need us to be immovable despite AI hype, slop, and bias, if we shall ever want to maintain some bit of truth.
@nixCraft Definitely. What about the many artists out there trying to copyright their music and are getting rejected because AI already cloned their work?
I think AI is becoming an excused digital piracy tactic that inches us close to 2030 where we will own nothing and be happy, simply because AI has siphoned and homogenized low to middle class creativity, value, & uniqueness.
Rather than a tax, why doesn't AI platforms compensate humanity's efforts?

While enjoying benefit of AI in some respect, it needs human supervision for correctness. How a human can be more accurate than hundreds of clustered servers consuming precious resources, is beyond me.
On our servers I've banned all AI scraping to protect customer's intellectual property until a time where AI platforms can refrain from creator content siphoning or at minimum compensate for selling.
Hoping the humans ditch the A in AI.
