Will Carers Vic and Carer Gateway have less funding next financial year? Can I rely on them having at least a minimum, secure budget to help me each year if needed? I can’t rely on these services and it adds even more stress to call in a crisis and not get any help.

And even when I wait until the new financial year I have to consider if the crisis is worth calling to get help for. Do I use my budget now or wait incase something more drastic happens? Will Carers Vic have the same amount of funding?

Funding for Carer Gateway needs to be increased. Carers have more than 1 crisis event per financal year. I guess should have told my mum not to fall over and break her arm and knee until July 1st 2023 & not fall again or have other emergencies till 1/7/2024. #auspol #MedTwitter

2/2 7 hour surgery to repair humerus break. No budget even for a taxi to get me to and from hospital to visit. Carers Vic same situation - my budget has a already been used. So demoralising to call for help and be told “nothing for you”. #auspol #medtwitter

Not much use when your Carer Gateway allocated budget is used in July 2022 for this financial year. Called for assistance now because mum broke her shoulder & knee. Told: no budget for you. You’ve used it all up. 1/2 #auspol #agedcare #MedTwitter #carergateway
