I love to be online and I am really happy to have found the non-centralised social media services of the Fediverse. So these days I’m testing my way through them, trying to find out which services work well together.
So far I‘ve looked at interactions between these:
#Mastodon
#Pixelfed
#Friendica
#Firefish
#Chirp.social (groups)
#Gup.pe (groups)
#Hubzilla
#WordPress
#Diaspora
[There will be more]

The one I forgot was Statuzer. Found this list on a joinmastodon.org page:

Get an app for Mastodon

Browse official and third-party apps for the decentralized social network Mastodon

I also noticed that users do not have full access to all available Mastodon user settings from the newsmast interface but they are available through the backend Mastodon interface with a few things being prepopulated. Whatever I filled in through the Newsmast interface had made its way here.
After some clicking about all of a sudden I was on a different interface, the underlying Mastodon instance which resides on backend.newsmast.org. Here I was able to access the server info. I have to say I felt much more at home here as this interface provides all the settings options I’m used to.
There is apparently an app only for Newsmast but I have not tried it out. I did access the site through its website and was surprised at how different it looks to normal Mastodon as it shows the “communities” links at the right and also has changed the generic left hand column. You can’t see the info about the Mastodon server from there which I didn’t like as I was trying to find out which servers were blocked.
See my screenshot.
I got a DM on Pixelfed from #Newsmast, inviting me to take a look. It’s a Mastodon project centred around “communities”. OK, that part is interesting. It says on a webpage that it’s backed by a charitable organisation but there is no further information about that. When signing up they want to know about your interests and in what capacity you are there, so they can amplify your posts. It seems to be geared towards journalism. I’m not sure what to think of it yet.

This is where I got to so far.
🟢✅✅ Green means that interactions between services seem to work well in both directions.
🟡✅💢 Yellow means there are either some one sided problems or some weird things happen that I still need to research further.
🔴❌ Red means something does not work at all.

Note: This is not complete in any way yet and based on my personal experiences.
