I read this and cried. It is beautiful.

I'm taking time off with my parents to get healthy and find a new career path.
You will rarely hear me talk about religion or politics here. But do not assume I am apathetic or uninformed. Quite the opposite.

Turns out Fritzing can still be had with standard sudo apt and thus bypassing the need to pay.
It's 1.0.1 ... The current is 1.0.6 I believe, but I had been working in 0.9.4/6 on Mac anyhow.
My guess is that 1.0.1 was the last freely available version you could easily get.
It's still just serving as a holdover as I get more fluent in KiCAD in Linux. And port over any relevant gerbers and what-not.
After many years, I'm back on Linux. Ubuntu for the moment and 98% smooth installation.
An archaic USB device did not want to play nice and a piece of software is now behind a paywall ... BOOOOO for #enshittification !
Anyway, I'll slowly work over to the new machine until the 2015 MacBook finally detonates, LOL.
This is a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen1 for anyone interested. I didn't even give Windows a chance to boot before wiping it completely.
Love The Crafsman and especially his take on AI.

Working on getting our #scalemodel LED lighting boards going again ...
Should be soon-ish.
Thanks for the replies everyone ... right now ... I'm eying something like this:
Buy Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Notebook, 14" IPS FHD Display, Intel Core i7-10510U Upto 4.9GHz, 32GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, HDMI, DisplayPort via USB-C, Card Reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Windows 10 Pro with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!
Okay good people of the Fediverse!
The MacBook Pro 2015 is running on fumes (2nd battery, graphical glitches, flaky keys).
I used Linux quite a bit in grad school, but always, personally, had a Mac because it was "Unix-y" enough.
So ... does anyone have recommendations for a good laptop to slap Ubuntu on?
I need to:
-- Keep it under $1200 USD if possible.
-- Have at least one USB-A, HDMI and SD-Card slots.
I already use mostly FOSS, dumb flip-phone, etc.
Cheers
It's happening!
Finally a mass produced kit of the TIE Bomber! And at a decent scale!
🥳
Already had my pre-order into CultTVMan's Hobbyshop.
( @CultTVman )
But it's nice to seem some good box art ...
