A trip from what seems a lifetime ago to North Strone recumbent stone circle near Alford in Aberdeenshire for today's #StandingStoneSunday
Unusual circle. All the stones are small for a RSC. The colours are lovely. The stones are dark pink aplite.
Nice view from here of Aberdeenshire and my favourite hill Bennachie.

14/03/2026 - We took the Milky Way!
Evening visit to Bennachie. Round, up and then over from Black Hill trigpoint to Oxen Craig. Nice and dark and no one else about. It was a good walk.
09/03/2026 - Evening walk after tea. Up and down Millstone Hill in Aberdeenshire. Dark and stars. It clouded over on the way back. Mild this evening.
For today's #StandingStoneSunday it's a photo of the Giant's Grave at Beorgs of Housetter, Shetland. These two red granite stones stand guard over a cairn.
Shetland is just a magic place for ancient sites in fantastic landscapes.
07/03/2026 - Evening walk up and round the hill. Dark but we walked without head torches for the most part due to the light pollution from the city. Still the stars were good and the hill was quiet.
06/03/2026 - Evening walk after a busy day. No moon, no clouds, just a night sky full of stars. It felt good to be out and away from worries.
