As more and more scholars come to the fediverse, it's time to start @democraticinnovations to promote and discuss #democraticinnovations research. Let's get this started @Sofiemarien, @rikki_dean, @PG @anewq, @Hannahwerner, @AndreaFelicetti, @DemocracyNet and tag others to spread the word!

Sharing a Thread my co-author @emmahoes wrote about our paper on the bird site:

Could the media’s attention to #misinformation and #fakenews be harmful? In this #paper (https://psyarxiv.com/4m92p) by @emmahoes B. Clemm, @gessler, S. Quian & M. Wojcieszak, we answer this question using both experimental (Study 1) and observational data (Study 2). Curious?

The Mastodon political science community is scattered across multiple servers. That is fine!

However, one way to keep connected is by the use of *a group*

So, please, all political scientists, follow this group get all political science posts: @politicalscience

And tag the group to share with us all, if you want to spread messages across the entire political science community.

BUT it only works if people follow the group. So, please boost to spread the word! 🙏

Could you help us match our Twitter numbers by telling your friends about us?

Realising I never did an introduction post, so here we go.

I’m a political scientist working on how norms affect political behaviour, especially behaviour associated with authoritarianism.

I plan on mostly posting about social science (papers by me and others), academia in general, and a few random sideposts on music and other such things.

If we followed each other on Twitter, let’s follow each other here too so that we build the network!

Have a great weekend y’all!

Robbert has created a Mastodon server for folks working in or interested in Dutch academia. Check out details about how, why, and what below (in Dutch). https://twitter.com/rhoogstraat/status/1587764220988366851

“Nu de grote migratie naar #Mastodon 🦣 bezig is, leek het mij slim als we daar dan ook een eigen server voor maken. Aanschouw: https://t.co/YUi2fzfarL, #AkademieNL. Maar is dit wel nodig en moet ik dan overstappen? Hieronder vind je hopelijk de antwoorden in het 🧵. 1/n”

Let’s get some substance on here: @ulrikeklinger and colleagues’ piece on how negative, dramatized and populist content increased in facebook posts in last 2 EP elections is worth a read (especially knowing that EP24 campaigns are being prepared)
