Heel angle tells a story. The Skipper of this boat had the tiller between his legs and a line in his teeth - then he overtook us!
Training day. Questions asked early are mistakes avoided later. Wouldn't it be great to have this much room to service our engines onboard!

Boat Handling Tip: Know Your Boat

Understanding your boat’s handling capability is fundamental to safe boating.
Every vessel responds differently depending on its weight, hull shape, wind, and current. The same manoeuvre can feel very different from one boat to another.
Taking time to learn how your boat behaves in different conditions builds confidence and makes close manoeuvring much easier.
Good seamanship begins with understanding how your own vessel responds.

Helming in open water. Small movements. Let the boat speak before you correct her. Staying in the groove!
Lifebuoy ready and reachable. Safety gear only works if it is easy to grab (in good order, and you now how to use it!)
At anchor, tidy lines are just as important as tidy lines at sea.
Side deck check. Non-slip shoes and one hand for the boat. Every time.
All's well onboard
Evening approach. Nice and slow.
Crew briefing matters. A five-minute chat avoids five hours of sorting things out later.
