Mountains abound, this #FairyTaleTuesday.

Here's one of the better-known #NorwegianFolktales, "The Maiden on the Glass Mountain," in which a simple farm boy, with the help of unseen forces, brings the princess down from her perch.

The Maiden on the Glass Mountain

The folktales and legends collected by Peter Christen AsbjΓΈrnsen and JΓΈrgen Moe, and others, translated into English.

Figuring out which Mastodon server to join is akin to IRL for Black, Indigenous, People of Global Majority (BIPGM) women/femme:
Are they safe for us? Will I need to assimilate? Do I need to code-switch?
Will they care more about the dominant comfort & civility than the truth?

@ben If Tumblr ever becomes AP-compatible, the first thing that I'm doing is asking the owner of my instance to defederate with it and advocating for others to do the same.

It would be too big of an instance with focus on centralization, corporate-led interests, possibility of monetizing of Fediverse data that reaches it, opaque moderation standards, and culture that is completely alien to the one that has emerged in my favorite parts of the Fediverse.

Today I ruined three football conversations with talk of modern-day slavery, including 9,000 dead essentially enslaved people, and corruption. I shall continue in the same vein until the sham of a "competition" is over. No hashtags because I filtered them all out.

Oh hold on, when I transferred my account I had to redo my #introduction post

I’m C. L. Polk. I’m a #writer: usually #fantasy, often a #novelist. I have five books out. Witchmark won the #WorldFantasyAward and #TheMidnightBargain was a #CanadaReads finalist.

I am black. I am #queer. I am #disabled. I am #neurodivergent. I’m also trying to get a very expensive therapy treatment funded that involves psychedelic assisted methods. (Link in bio.)

Thank you for reading.

I will never understand why people are so averse to diversity.

I like seeing trans people speaking to each other with idioms I don't get, cute girls speaking a language I can't recognize, or gay dudes priming and posing in random pics.

Seeing shit that is not for me makes me feel like I'm part of a much bigger world that still has space for me to learn and grow.

That's a big place of comfort for me. The bottomless nature of the human experience means we all have space to be fully who we are.

That's pretty cool.
