I’m writing a children books called β€œWhen Mom Has a Slow Day”
It’s about the adjustment kids have to make when their chronically ill parent has a flare up and plans change, and how connection doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful.
I want kids to know it’s ok to be upset about plans changing but I also want the grown up reading to know that it’s ok to listen to your body and slow down.
This is the book my kids and I have needed for the past year, and I hope it helps someone else too.

You may know that Lewis Carroll’s β€œThrough The Looking Glass” plays out a game of chess between the lines.

Does anyone know any other good examples of a meta-narrative like this? I’d love to see a story that draws out a cooking recipe.

I lived my life like a normal person yesterday. Went out with a friend, worked out, ate 3 meals.
Today I’m bed bound with excruciating pain and fatigue.
It’s getting harder and harder to find the silver linings. Chronic illness can suck it.
*a cutesy romance novel except the FMC is an Amelia Bedelia type who tries to have a one-night stand, but meets the MMC when she buys one night-stand from him*
My doctors have started to take me a lot more seriously lately and actually do diagnostic tests for the things I’ve been trying to tell them for ages I suspect are going on. (Haven’t been wrong yet!)
What changed, you asked? I started bringing my husband with me to appointments. He speaks up and basically repeats the things I’ve already said and magically they listen to me.

Nine out of ten doctors recommend NOT listening to the tenth doctor.

No company has announced β€œthanks to AI, we have the same number of employees, but we have launched zillions of new services and are growing our product lines because of all the time our people get to spend innovating.”

I don’t know why that is.
