Attached: 1 image #Today 13 Good day! The weather is just right & it isn’t the weekend, so I’m off for another hike, though nothing as epic as the last. Time for a new area. Rock Creek. Babcock Mountain. I’ve worked hard this last week and need to unwind where cares are carried down the creek. Be everwell. #WritingLife #AmWriting #WritingCommunity #Aging #HealthyLiving #HealthyLifestyle #GetOutside #Hiking #Trails #HikingAdventures #Nature #NaturePhotography #NatureLover #Photography #LandscapePhotography

A mysterious Iron Age figure from Ballachulish

These are the dirham coin snips from Tune. The coins were struck in the Caliphate. They were cut up like this because the Scandies didn't read Arabic and paid no attention to the denominations. They were interested in the *weight* of silver when paying for something.

Greek DRACHM --> DRHM --> Arabic DIRHAM

To be clear — here is what is happening

DOJ orders ICE to arrest people—even without a judicial warrant

People see these violations of their rights—peacefully protest

LAPD confirms people protested peacefully—as is their Constitutional right

Trump fabricates claim of violence—deploys National Guard

Fascists escalate violence to justify their existence. That’s what Trump is doing. Don’t fall for it. Stand united with our neighbors against this tyranny.

Having been living in downtown LA during the 1992 LA Riots... there is not a riot going on, it's protesters, pissed off people, jumpy cops/military with tear gas. (though, the right wingers would like to spark a riot and/or start a police riot, so the fascists can start shooting people for real). #LosAngeles

Um... what happened to the second person???
It was a long #drive (467 km/290 miles). I briefly saw my #mother in Simpele. But now I'm here in Punkaharju and I can rest. It's a shame that the #spa is not open on Sundays. The program starts tomorrow at 9 am. This is a #wellbeing #holiday. And free for me. My application was approved. It's time to take care of myself instead of everyone else for a change. This hotel was earlier for #Finnish #war veterans. They got physical therapy here. The building is 122 years old #suomimastodon #finland

Um... what happened to the second person???
@killyourfm Obviously the second person is in the pack going out. Silly.
@killyourfm I think they're in the trunk, dawg.
@mconley Geez, brings new meaning to "Leave No Trace"
@killyourfm Already stuffed in the trunk.
@killyourfm probably one of those people who carries a blaring speaker on the trail.
@intrepidhero In all seriousness, this is easily my biggest pet peeve. Not just "hiking pet peeve" but LIFE IN GENERAL.
@killyourfm It's up there. Not as bad in my mind as places in the world where smoking in public is the norm but annoying for sure.
@intrepidhero DO NOT go to Croatia...
@killyourfm Yeah I may have been thinking specifically of eastern europe....

@killyourfm @intrepidhero

My mind always goes first: WHY!! 👀

One other is continuation mistakes in movies and TV-series

@killyourfm @intrepidhero

We were in Canada at Lake Louise once, hiking up from that beautiful glacial lake. High above (!) already we heard a woman down in a canoe begin to sing opera (no idea what.)

It went on FOREVER, and I can't imagine how many people heard her from that natural amphitheater.

We've never forgotten it. I just can't...

@intrepidhero @killyourfm

Washington State Park created this playlist for those people:

@negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm someone should make a playlist like this for the people who blast music at the bus station for no reason. put all the same songs on it.
@negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm There is one suitable piece. By John Cage.

@negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm Would be terrible if someone had one of these on the trail (or on public transport)

GitHub - EmenstaNougat/ESP32-BlueJammer: The ESP32-BlueJammer (Bluetooth jammer, BLE jammer, WiFi jammer, RC jammer) disrupts 2.4GHz communications. Using an ESP32 and nRF24 modules, it generates noise and unnecessary packets, causing interference between the devices communicating, making them unable to work as intended. Ideal for controlled disruption and security testing.

@dec23k @negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm Has this been tried? How many times I just wanted to have a quiet life and someone had a bluetooth speaker

@catzilla @negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm
I have not tried it myself.
There are many similar projects on github; I just pasted two of them.

Some experimenting with antenna gain (and random timers) may be needed, to get one to actually work in the conditions where someone might want a quiet life.

There are also plenty of commercial products that cost more than a couple of ESP32 boards.

@catzilla @negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm
I would imagine that a constant Bluetooth 'jam' signal would be easier to detect (and avoid) than a short-lived interruption at very random intervals.

Some of the available projects might already have this option.

@negative12dollarbill The graphic of the Bluetooth speaker immediately made me think of the "Empire" from Star Wars.

@negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm *cough* that's Washington DNR

Parks was never that funny

@negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm

This was one of my favorite parts of recently visiting Japan: No one is blaring music or their phone conversation from their phone. What a polite, civilized society!

@negative12dollarbill @intrepidhero @killyourfm also works for BART, the bus, your bicycle, the street corner outside the bodega, etc.
@intrepidhero @killyourfm
uuggghhh one time when I was with a day hospital for teenagers, we were staying out near the mountains, it was great, autumn actually looked like autumn.
we went for a stroll around this really nice little lake, but one of the other kids decided to absolutely fucking blare ed sheeran and other trash through his bluetooth speakers, and no one said anything against it.
i was so mad i went wayyy ahead of the main group in order to not hear it.
@rotbrain @intrepidhero That sounds like a living nightmare to me.
@killyourfm evidence has successfully been packed
@killyourfm While I prefer black plastic bags myself, best guess is the corpse is in the red one being loaded.

@killyourfm

The problem isn't the graphics. It's the text. People get tripped-up on English grammar all the time.

It should have been "Pack It In" “Pack Them Out”

@killyourfm I see two possibilities.
Eaten by bears
17.2%
Packed into car boot
82.8%
Poll ended at .
@mansr @killyourfm May I offer a third choice: Killed by his buddy and left to be eaten by bears. The perfect crime. (You don’t commit a murder at a perfectly good body-dump site and then take the body with you to a secondary location. That’s Murder 101.)
@Merk_94 @mansr @killyourfm A secondary dump site does help to obscure details of the crime from investigators. One would not, however, pack the body all the way back to a relatively-crowded trailhead. Just another point in bear country a few miles from the kill site should do. Just a word to the wise psychopath…
@su_liam @mansr @killyourfm An excellent point I hadn’t considered. If you commit the murder in the wilderness, you have the advantage of being able to move the body without significant risk of discovery. If you DON’T have miles of empty wilderness to work with, it’s probably safer to kill at the dump site.
@killyourfm they obviously became the car, Turbo Teen style.

@killyourfm In typical Tennessee summer heat and humidity, a human body left in the woods will fully skeletonize in a week.

Don't ask me how I know.

@killyourfm

Left behind in a shallow grave or in the car boot? 🫨

@killyourfm Pretty clear from graphic
