What looks like a work of Belgian modernism in Leicester. It's not a building I remember ever seeing.
The façade of Wigston Framework Knitting Museum looks like, er, it's been knitted. Different rows and different patterns of red brick. Robert Venturi & Denise Scott Brown would have admired the synthesis between purpose and appearance. It is most definitely a 'duck'.
Thanks to Ryan Hampton & Elena Russo for organising the excellent SPATIAL HISTORY WORKSHOP: SPACES & IDENTITY & to each PhD candidate for their equally insightful & thought-provoking contribution @ Oxford University's Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.
Finally, I made it to Kettle's Yard. A beautiful house in Cambridge conceived and curated by Jim Ede. These stairs, bookcase that forms the back of a day bed & sloping walls makes a charming space to spend a while, especially as it's next to the winter-garden.
Above the door of the V&A Is written, "The excellence of every art must consist in the complete accomplishment of its purpose."
Thrilled to finally hold my first book about British artists drawings of Seville. Thank you to everyone at Centro de Estudios Europa Hispánica @europahispanica, ARTES @artesorguk, and Instituto Ceán Bermúdez for transforming my PhD thesis into this marvellous volume.

The detailing seems simple now, but carefully considered and robust.

For Sale: Upper Lawn, Tisbury, Wiltshire | The Modern House
Widely considered as one of the most significant examples of modern architecture, Upper Lawn was designed by the late architects and celebrated pioneers of brutalism, Alison and Peter Smithson. Rooted in a peaceful rural pocket of Wiltshire countryside, the house was conceived as a retreat for creating and communing, providing peace, quiet, and the opportunity to live in rhythm with the seasons. Occupied by the Smithsons between 1959-1982, Upper Lawn came to embody some of their most significant architectural ideas, and was sensitively updated under the expert guidance of
