On this Tax Day, I have a joke about trickle-down economics, but 99% of you will never get it.

Anyone want web caps of 'chella weekend 1?. I know a guy.
My better half and I were at our friend's place last weekend and they asked me about recovering a bitlockered drive. It's been years since I've spent time using Windows, but when I read the bitlocker text it mentioned turning on Secure Boot. I checked the UEFI and sure enough Secure Boot was off. Turning it on resulted in the system booting normally. They logged in and were as happy as punch. Sometimes the answer is staring you in the face, but if you don't know what to look for, or just gloss over it, it looks harder than it is... Grateful for simple fixes.
I wear special ear plugs at work that make everything nearly silent. Everyone thinks it's because I need them to concentrate but it's really because I'm sick of listening to my co-workers' bullshit, whistling and fingernail drumming.

jq is super useful, once somebody explains the basics to you. Here I am explaining the basics in a way that's applicable for all you DFIR types.

jq For Forensics

jq is a great tool for parsing JSON data. But DFIR professionals often apply jq differently from the typical examples you see written for developers.

Someday..... I know it... Some fkn day.... There will be several days in a row where I will not care or even have to understand what is happening in USA news.

The past ten years have been fkn exhausting.

To the sysadmin population of the Fediverse: do people have any numbers on how long common mail senders will retry sending mail if your MX is unreachable? Once upon a time people retried for many days, but my impression is that quite a few places now stop trying and bounce the email after quite short intervals, like a day.

(Boosts and practical experiences welcome, like "my MX was down for three days and I still got all that email sent from GMail".)

When you see your media telling you that Canadians aren't going to the United states because of tariffs, I implore you to understand that the tariffs are the least of the reasons why.

First and foremost is the threat of military conquest.

Second, is the kidnapping of Canadians by ICE, being held for months without charge.

Third, the United States is fomenting sedition in the province of Alberta.

Fourth is the illegal trade war and tariffs.

There are certainly other reasons such as the American leadership is, or are, protecting pedos, and how the United States is threatening to annex Canada's neighbour, Greenland, and their invasion of Venezuela, and so on.

The tariffs are the smallest part and not even the whole story of that part.
