I know a little about a lot but not a lot about anything 🤷‍♂️

I find that because #loops plays the same clips at you over and over until new ones are posted - seemingly not many - I end up having to block people I don’t want to see clips from (let’s be honest, a lot are irritating) or they’ll keep popping up constantly. Not the best format is it.

Network Rail and #Transport for Wales are carrying out drainage improvements at Flint to reduce flooding risks, preparatory work for a new accessible footbridge at Pensarn, and sleeper replacements at Rhyl. The upgrades aim to maintain safety and support a recent 50% increase in train services.

No rail services will operate between #Chester and #Llandudno Junction during the closure. Holyhead services will terminate at Llandudno Junction, while #Manchester #Airport, Cardiff Central, and Liverpool Lime Street services will start and terminate at Chester.

Replacement buses will run every 30 minutes on Saturday and hourly on Sunday, with ticket acceptance also in place on Arriva buses. Passengers are advised to allow extra time and check journeys in advance.

Vivaldi 8.0: our biggest design overhaul, ever | Vivaldi Browser

More than thirteen years in, and I am still as excited about building this browser as I was on day one. Maybe more. That excitement comes from a genuine belief that the people who use Vivaldi deserve…

Vivaldi Browser

Have been using #firefox since it was called Phoenix.

But it’s dying. Slowly.

Really like #vivaldibrowser but being based on #chromium doesn’t sit well with me. But I can live with it.

But what I’d really like to see are some serious Brave-level privacy features added, like fingerprint mitigation.

When I look at this site, you can see what browsers take #privacy seriously:

My wife is looking for a new #Privacy -focussed (*if possible*) #Smartwatch , mainly because her #FitBit #Sense went to #GoogleHealth and so she’s selling it. She lost all her data and is pretty pissed off with it all.
Ironically, she needs it to have an #iOS app, although if it can run without that, even better. Any recommendations please? Thanks in advance.

Ordinary WiFi can now identify people with near perfect accuracy

Scientists in Germany have demonstrated a startling new form of surveillance: identifying people using nothing more than ordinary WiFi signals. By analyzing how radio waves bounce around a room, researchers can effectively “see” and recognize individuals — even if they are not carrying a device and even if their phone is turned off.

Social media is an absolute cesspool. Top of the "most annoying bellends" today are the "that looks like AI to me" brigade, who twenty-odd years ago were the "looks like a photoshop, I can tell because I've seen a lot of pixels in my time" brigade.

“This week I discovered the same pattern, executed by Google. Google Chrome is reaching into users' machines and writing a 4 GB on-device AI model file to disk without asking. The file is named weights.bin. It lives in OptGuideOnDeviceModel. It is the weights for Gemini Nano, Google's on-device LLM. Chrome did not ask. Chrome does not surface it. If the user deletes it, Chrome re-downloads it.”

Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device without consent. At a billion-device scale the climate costs are insane. — That Privacy Guy!

Google Chrome is downloading a 4 GB Gemini Nano model onto users' machines without consent, with no opt-in, no opt-out short of enterprise tooling, and an automatic re-download every time the user deletes it. The pattern is identical to the Anthropic Claude Desktop case I wrote about last month, but the scale is between two and three orders of magnitude larger. This article does the legal analysis and, for the first time, the environmental analysis. The numbers are not small.
