I wasn't aware that it is possible for carriers to silently request accurate GPS location data of any phone logged into their network, bypassing all OS controls and settings. #Apple seems to bring more end user visibility on this mechanism in their upcoming #iOS release for phones with their own C1 modem. I understand the necessity of this feature in emergency situations but apart from that, to me it is a #privacy nightmare

Had to help my dad this weekend as he couldn't receive emails anymore. Turns out the problem was with his email provider and their IMAP servers.

However, finding that out was kind of a challenge, because this stupid pile of steaming garbage software from Microsoft called Outlook only told me that "Something went wrong".
Oh, don't give me too much information, please! I might actually find out what's up and what exactly isn't working.

It is unbelievable to me that people use this kind of crap daily, no matter if privately or in a business and I have no idea how their products ever became some kind of "standard" in our business. And people complain that you need to mess around too much with open source software... while they run 3 scripting suites from random people every six months after an update to tweak things and make it not phone home every 3 seconds. It's wild how much people are ready to bend over.
