Winter Solstice at Rubha Phoil
The shortest day has come and gone.
Out here, on the beautiful western edge, the solstice doesn’t arrive with much ceremony. The light fades early, the ground is wet, and most things are still. But it matters all the same. It marks the point where the light turns. It's not dramatic, almost imperceptible really — but just enough to know that the balance has shifted.
People on this rock have noticed this for a very long time. Long before calendars or holidays.
