After three years of Russian atrocities in Ukraine, it is unmistakable to me—especially now that the U.S. prioritizes economic interests over Ukraine’s freedom and security—that the slogan ‘never again,’ which was formulated after World War II as a binding promise for elites, institutions, and governments not to engage in war crimes and crimes against humanity, has once again proven to be empty words.

My favorite track of 2024 is by far the profound and intriguing DANTE by the virtuosic Echo Collective. I had the privilege of experiencing this track and their album Mirror Image live this year at De Doelen, Rotterdam.
I played Dante to my daughter to see how it resonated with her.
