Happy #LetterboxdFriday!
Finally watched the final Best Picture nominated films - the worst of the selection.
A darkly entertaining drama, which will a bit too close to the bone for some.
An incredibly well acted noir. Slow and psychological.

Will be starting my new film month soon, so the year is 1944.
Planning on Going My Way, Double Indemnity and Gaslight.
Anything else I should prioritise?
Final night in Uzbekistan, which has been an incredible trip!
Any misconceptions and ideas were for the most part dispelled.
Anyway, next it will be to explore Istanbul!
Is it just me that finds the Dracula/Nosferatu story a comforting watch?
Now onto my 7th/8th adaptation of the story...
Happy #LetterboxdFriday!
A couple of comfort rewatches, silliness from Monty Python and a pretty faithful Hitchcock adaptation.
By Blood, By Salt by J.L. Odom
Undoubtedly an extremely well written political and military self-pub fantasy that deals with colonialism and othering. It perhaps leaned too much on varying political machinations over everything else that could have been explored in the world.

Not gonna lie, the last couple of weeks have been tough, so haven't been able to watch anything like what I've wanted to...
Seascraper by Benjamin Wood
A gentle, atmospheric story of a man trawling the beach to sell shrimp. It packs so much in, in a short space of time, but the main one of duty vs passion absolutely made it for me. Tom is such an an honest and endearing character.
Dreams Of Fire by Shauna Lawless
An excellent prequel novella to the Gael Song series. We learn more about the rival factions and instantly hooked into the characters lives. It tackles themes of sisterhood, freedom and being at peace with one's own mortality.
