Meet our team:

Nimrit Ubhi (she/her) is an undergraduate research assistant at the REACHE Lab. She is focused on the Social Needs Assessment (SNA) Project. This project aims to co-develop and test a social needs assessment tool for outpatient cancer care in Manitoba, to improve equitable access and support patients experiencing structural marginalization. Noor Breik (She/Her), RPh, B.Sc. (Pharm), M.Sc., and Ph.D. candidate, is a dedicated healthcare provider and researcher committed to advancing impactful health solutions that address public health needs and promote wellness and equity at the population level. Noor is a registered pharmacist (RPh) with over 15 years of experience in diverse practice settings. 1/2

March is colorectal cancer awareness month. A Canadian study in 2020 (Davis et al., 2020) found inequities in access to cancer care for people with stage IV colorectal cancers such that living in the most materially deprived communities were significantly less likely to see a radiation and/or medical oncologist after a diagnosis, and significantly less likely to receive radiation and/or chemotherapy than those living in the least materially deprived communities.
