A short poem: Alone and Not Alone

Journaling creates a feedback loop with the deeper portions of ourselves. Like opening an inner dialogue with different parts of ourselves that we often don't let see the light of day. Almost like visiting the inner prison we have built after years of life lived and traumas survived.

I had done so much work to stop fearing negative outcomes that I hadn't noticed a more refined fear still living underneath: the fear of not getting the outcome I preferred. I was no longer clinging to catastrophe, but I was still clinging to authorship.

The Crystalline World
A painting of my first encounter with a strange land made of a crystalline refractive nature. My story is recounted in the my World Compendium linked here.

I am the reader. I am the writer. I am the character. I am all at once, all in a sea of other books. Books upon books. The question still burns, but the answer feels closer. Yet still unknown.

A Short Lifetime as Storm
As the wind gusted, I felt something within me shifting along with it. As the thunder cracked, I felt the sound waves reverberate from deep inside. As the rain danced, I felt a calm electricity ignite. I had become one with the storm somehow. All that existed was the storm.

An ember sits in all of us, smoldering beneath the surface. We search everywhere for light—outside ourselves, in others, in illusions. But when we finally return to what burns within, when we tend it with love instead of fear, everything changes. The darkness falls away. Life returns. The fire illuminates not just our world, but who we've always been.

My first attempt at a full digital painting, inspired by the The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern.
There is no such thing as fiction. Stories are a rich tapestry woven together by our dreams, inner worlds, experiences, love, and loss. They are not mere words to entertain. They are our keys to the real world. The world inside us.
