Stay at home gay dad. Tired. UK

Just made the other half watch Dirty Dancing for the first time. He still thinks it's rubbish, but accepts there's more to it than he thought.

I still fucking loved it.

Reasons we fly a pride flag:

Leaving the house this morning, there was a kid, maybe grade 5, no rain gear, sitting on our front step.

I was obviously a little startled

Me: uhm...hi? Can I help you?

Kid: oh! No, I'm just taking a break my mom told me that if I ever need to ask an adult for help I should look for a house with a rainbow flag because that means it's safe. I don't need help, just a dry spot for calling my friend to bring my rain coat.

And then his friend rocked up with his coat and off they went.
The moral of the story is unregulated capitalist assholes flouting science and safety regulations will get people killed, and unfortunately, they don't kill themselves anywhere near often enough.

You know what most often gets me stuck? Dependencies. This can happen in programming, in DIY, in housework, anything really.

This is how it goes:

I need to do A. Ah, but in order to do A, I have to do B first. Oh damn, before I can do B, I have to do C. And oh shit, C is pointless until I do D (this sometimes continues through half the alphabet...)

By the time I've worked out all the dependencies so I know what has to come first, I'm screwed. Motivation has left the building. The list is longer than I have the #spoons for, my sense of future time has disappeared and I shut down.

Now I'm writing about it, probably the best thing is to just try and do the first task *but* ignore the fact that all the others depend on it. But it's easy to forget that when you're in the thick of it, your anxiety is building and your spoons are disappearing left and right.

YES!!!

Not only did the Greens win, they trounced them. Over a 10% gap between them (40.69) and Reform (28.73) with Labour on 25.44 (down from 50.75%).

Will this be goodbye Starmer? (I suspect they'll keep him around for the May elections as they know the writing's in n the wall an£ a new leader won't fix things in time... But there might be some Gov resignations)

But, in the meantime happy dance of happy

Today is a good day.

"but yet" upsets me in the same way as "a tad bit" and "we should rightly be incredibly..."

To exist online in 10 years, you're going to have to give a random company a face scan and photo ID and they're going to give that and everything you post to the government to spy on you for being queer, left-wing, "a criminal," or whatever. None of your data or communications will be private. The government and corporations will go through all of it.

If you don't want that to happen, you should raise a stink about "age verification" right now because that's what they're actually building.
