Formerly @R3Z2600 on the platform owned by a petulant child.
This is what fascist propaganda looks like.
Happy winter solstice! #wintersolstice
Welcome to all our new friends. We’re glad you’re here!

Public Service Warning

Mastodon has a very big surge of new users right now. There's no way to tell if it will be sustained, but at this early point it looks similar to Nov 18 when Musk pulled the employee purge.

It is very challenging for system administration to accommodate so many new users. If your server starts to struggle, it is not broken and will get sorted out.

We're all in this together. It's our social network. Be patient. What we are building is amazing.

#twittermigration

It's time for the US Federal government to exit Twitter. It cannot publish on a censorship/disinformation channel.
Chad Loder highlighted how Elon Musk’s take-over of Twitter has paved the awy for far-right personalities supporting the mass murder of LGBTQ+ people. Chad’s account is now banned. Makes you wonder if @[email protected]’s Twitter only has free speech for the fascists.
I will give big points to the first news organization, big or small, that:
* Sets up an instance for its newsroom,
* Sets up an instance for the community it serves,
* Enables rel=me for staff,
* Creates a boost-on-Mastodon sharing function,
* Enhances that function so headlines/images (with alt-text) appear in the toot,
* Covers the Fediverse as more than a geeky curiosity or alt-Twitter,
* Listens to and joins in the conversation here.
I'm gonna tell your grand-kids this is Elon Musk.

Several years ago, there was a flap in the fediverse when someone mentioned being part of infragard (a public/private partnership with the FBI) for securitng infrastructure.

My comments about CISA members joining infosec.exchange have rekindled those flames, with instances now apparently blocking infosec.exchange because their members have a legitimate reason to fear the US government. We also have accounts owned by the CERTs of several countries, and even the EU. It's disappointing, however I understand the reasoning. I am posting this so that infosec.exchange accounts, along with others in the community, have a chance to move accounts, or institute their own blocks, as necessary.

It's becoming clear to me that some parts of the fediverse may be incompatible with each other. Not for technical reasons, but for philosophical ones. That makes me a bit sad, particularly in the case of CISA, who are doing their level best to improve the security and resiliency of technology that underpins modern civilization.

If this is the lsat message your instance sees from me, be well. If you chose to move to a new instance that blocks this one, I appreciate you have been here and hope the experience was good.

Go forth and do good things.
