British Rail diesel-hydraulics at the Great Western Society, Didcot, UK
Modelling activities have slowed to a crawl recently, but tonight I mocked-up the #Cadburys warehouse. This was fun - slicing up, folding and stapling a cereal packet!
All structures for this layout will be mundane, single story warehouses and industrial units.

Got there in the end! š
This puzzle has an odd choice of trainsā¦
Tonightās task: scratch-building some sleeper extensions and footboards for the point levers.
This is the first time Iāve actually tried anything like this in a long time. Iāve no dimensions to work from - just winging it a bit. Looks okay though.
The real example is at Gobowen (off Wikipedia).

The new D6300 looks right at home on the layout. Just trying it out to check it actually runs. Needs some fettling of the CVs, but that will have to wait.

I got the backdrop done yesterday for my UK micro layout. Threatening clouds have appeared - no āMr Blue Skyā for this layout!
Mounting it was a right sod. I chose a more expensive self-adhesive plastic film product, which is quite robust and forgiving. But once you have started sticking it to the layout thereās no turning back. There are some horrible mis-alignments, but most of them I can disguise in some way with scenery and some selective camera angles š
Some reading for the evening. I have just picked up a Dapol D6300 for my UK micro layout - seems a lovely model but I havenāt run it yet.
The British 6300s were short-lived (about 10 years service) diesel-hydraulics. Built by North British in Glasgow and using German designed MAN engines and transmissions.
They were ugly and had spoked wheels, but interesting. I also used to own a cab seat from one of them. Wish Iād kept it now.
This arrived today for my UK OO scale micro-layout - an Oxford Diecast Mk 1 Ford Transit. Itās quite a nice model and the D reg. plates make it a 1966 build.
I understand Transits were quite something when they were first introduced - and allegedly a favourite of criminals, as they handed better than many cars of their day!
I didnāt expect to find this in TK MAXX - Ā£2.99 for a 500g bar of DAS modelling clay. Iāll be using this for my UK micro-layout. š
Tonight Iāve moved on from mulled wine to something a bit stronger! š
Ballasting has started - I havenāt done this for ages and the āfunā hasnāt diminished š
But on the +ve side I can now declare that work on the scenery has started š
