My local public #library publishes its newly ordered materials list each week.
I continue to be astounded at the "don't shove that crap down my throat!" reaction it generates.
We spend so much time explaining that it's not a recommended reads list, it's not an agenda, it's *literally* just the new stuff.
But the concept isn't clicking. And the fragility of people unable to accept the existence of #books that don't explicitly follow their view is incredible. I don't know why they use a library. By *design* it exposes the #reader to a wider view of the world.
Some of the complaints go to me directly, others are passed along as an FYI after a library worker has an encounter.
I realized after the latest one just now how much of a bodily stress reaction has built up with exposure to ire over... nothing important.
If you're going to yell at a #librarian for a library carrying >> books << maybe take a walk and leave us in peace! We're well past done with yellers.
