Blogger/journalist at databreaches.net and pogowasright.org. As a retired healthcare professional, breaches in the healthcare sector are my priority.

The header pic is Indy, a Siberian husky we rescued in 2016 after I read how nobody wanted her because she was so difficult. She is now living her best life and is a mushball with me. My avatar is her co-conspirator, Senna. We rescued him from the town shelter in 2018. He is named for the #F1 #GOAT.

So I see a notice on Netflix about an udpated #privacy terms notice. I click on the link on the screen to see the new notice.

Notice that at the bottom of the screen, it indicates that this is just the first of 93 screens. Like, someone is really going to read through 93 screens? Or even want to read something that long that is emailed to them?

This does not serve consumers well.

OT: Judge Slays Firm's Use of Dragon Logo in Filing

https://www.law.com/2025/05/02/judge-slays-firms-use-of-dragon-logo-in-filing/

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that some law firm actually used a dragon cartoon logo to watermark their court filings, but.... smh.

Judge Slays Firm's Use of Dragon Logo in Filing

"The Court is not a cartoon," wrote a federal magistrate judge in response to a law firm's illustrated dragon watermark on court documents.

In the middle of the night, there were numerous attempts to get Facebook accounts created for randomly generated usernames for my domain. The emails all provided different confirmation code numbers and different fake Chinese-sounding names.

It didn't work. And I am not happy that Facebook didn't catch that it was rapid-fire emailing me numerous requests to confirm accounts.

OT:

Now more than ever.

OK, it's been a really rough few weeks here, but today, I actually had tears in my eyes for a good reason.

There is a wonderful pet food store on Long Island call Barkfield Road. They do fund-raising for the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. Here's what they did:

They had the shelter send them pictures of all the dogs in the shelter. Each picture with the dog's name was attached to a paper shopping bag. Barkfield put the shopping bags out in their store and their customers bought treats and supplies to fill up the dogs' bags.

And oh yeah.. if the customer spent $50 on dog treats for the bags, the store gave them back $50.00 and the treats stayed in the bags.

Today, 97 shelter dogs got treats thanks to Barkfield and the kindess of their customers who donated $5000.00 worth of goodies. The pic below is just some of the 97 bags.

It's nice to be reminded that there are still good people in this world. I need to go find another tissue.

Taking a break from all the breaking news to bring you this VERY IMPORTANT FOOD SAFETY ALERT, which probably isn't from the FDA and I don't know whom to credit, but hey...

I do not know who to credit for this one, but I am definitely not showing it to my huskies. 😂

If you have any relatives who are not particularly savvy about all the different types of fraud out there, this "home warranty" scam/fraud is still running a year later, and it comes to your home via postal mail. The "warranty" notice names whatever financial institution you have your mortgage with (can be easily obtained by scammers).

I've redacted the copy that came to my house, and am posting it here so you can see what to warn some folks about. The letter tells them their home warranty is expiring and they might be liable for expensive home repairs, etc.

Wow. Thanks to FourthAmendment.com for reminding us that today is Bill of Rights Day.
