Studied a long time ago to be a biology teacher.
Stood in front of a class for a little bit but decided it was not for me.
Worked in factories for a while and got a chance to do IT work/study (millennium bug), since then a happy programmer.

This is mainly for the dutch.
DigId is about to be taken over by an American company. For the non-dutch people, in the Netherlands we use this platform for identification on (government) sites. It is insane that nobody in the dutch government is doing something about this.

Congratulations; Hell Week is over. In preparation for Hell Week Redux, whenever it may arrive (next week), this week's newsletter flips data visualization on its head, focusing on a fascinating project that extracts data from presentations that wouldn't seem to include any. Also, President Trump shared a chart that we

Remember History Class and the "secret police" going door to door asking for "papers."?

We are very well aware of the fact that X for Grok is now offering a spicy mode showing explicit sexual content with some output generated with childlike images:

📌 A detailed request for information on Grok has been sent to X, and we are reviewing the company’s responses.

📌 X has been ordered to retain all internal documents and data concerning Grok’s features until the end of 2026.

The Digital Services Act is very clear:

In the EU, all platforms have to get their own house in order.

"But we don't since someone we know better then decades of research, millions of doctors and professionals"

It's child-abuse, plain and simple

#OceanCleanUp #AsToldByAmericans

I hate American exceptionalism ! Between the lines claiming the success.
But still a great [Dutch and others] achievement !
If only a nation could learn from others in stead of claiming. It is a truly international organization. Combined with knowledge and experience of many.

Quote by PM:
“Dec 25, 2025
America is removing millions of tons of plastic from the open ocean, and for the first time, the effort is producing measurable, historic results. This video explores how ocean cleanup moved from an impossible idea to a functioning global operation changing the future of marine pollution.
In this documentary-style breakdown, you’ll learn how a single question asked by a teenage diver sparked the largest ocean cleanup initiative ever attempted, and why experts initially believed it could never work. The video walks through the scale of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the engineering challenges that doomed early prototypes, and the failures that nearly ended the project before it began. It explains how redesigned systems finally learned to work with ocean currents instead of fighting them, allowing plastic to be captured, retained, and removed at scale.
You’ll also discover how stopping plastic before it reaches the ocean became just as important as cleaning what’s already there, with river-based interception systems now preventing millions of kilograms of waste from ever entering open water. The story follows the rapid acceleration of results in recent years, how recovered plastic is tracked and reused, and why the debate around cleanup versus prevention continues among scientists. By the end, you’ll understand what it actually takes to remove plastic from the open ocean, what progress looks like in real numbers, and what remains to be solved.
Project Mystery explores real-world mysteries, ambitious human projects, and the overlooked stories shaping our planet’s future.“
