I’m an idiot, please don’t rely on me for meaningful information… Made in S.Wales.

Ok, so, I’ve spent since November screaming at toasters (AI) to try and get my #tildagon app working.
It’s entirely vibecoded (like, 150%, it gives me code and I throw it on, not even a brief check over) & so far I’ve learnt:
1) if it doesn’t work on the simulator, it may work on the badge regardless.
2) the only ai agent that made any headway at all was Claude.
3) useless github release notes are fun to write.

App is called Badgagotchi.
Don’t install it, I wouldn’t if I don’t have to.

Guy who revived the Pebble watches and champions hacking/tinkering/open source has decided to make a single use (ewaste) smart ring dictator device. (???)
While the device seems great the fact it becomes completely useless after the battery runs out is criminal… seems there are many like me in his comments https://youtu.be/ArxhS4SQaP0?si=cmVys_oCCnkMcW42

Ok. Windows 11 has cooked itself after an update and I refuse to reinstall everything AGAIN.
What KDE distros do people recommend for someone new to Linux, has older hardware but likes to game (not online/competitively, most stuff older games) and wants things to be set up/included by default as much as possible.
Thought that Nobara would be perfect but it won’t boot off ventoy nor direct off a usb. (Safe boot disabled and multiple attempts)

welsh python was not one of my greatest ideas i now realise

I’m sure you’ve all seen enough but here is my photo of the #NorthernLights from Aberavon Beach in South Wales (Pointed across Swansea)
I recently dual booted my old Thiccpad with Pop_OS and the install was a breeze, I also find myself selecting it on startup much more than windows.
This weekend I factory reset my girlfriend’s laptop with a fresh install of windows.
It took over 4 hours from starting to finishing windows updates. Multiple nags screens, Cortana blasting us by default & refusal to let you use YOUR computer unless you have a Microsoft account then immediately being greeted by adverts in the start menu… bliss.
To all the #emfcamp people:
I’ve managed to upgrade my #tildagon easily from v1.4 to the newest v1.9, but my daughter’s badge won’t OTA. I’ve tried charging, not charging, next to my access point, away from the access point, nothing.
I’m currently using the web flasher to try and force it through and it’s been on erasing for about 4minutes now.
Has anyone else used the flasher able to tell me expected length of time it will take to flash as I’m getting twitchy…

PSA for UK folks (especially supportive parents of trans kids and/or folks using GenderGP

Susie Green has co-founded a new healthcare service for trans folk of all ages in the UK called Anne Health

It went live officially from the date of Trans Pride Brighton (20th July 2024), from what we've been told

Unlike GenderGP, which has sadly fired a lot of staff and replaced them with "AI" chatbots, Anne Health has commited to hiring qualified individuals who care and are knowledgeable about the best trans healthcare practices possible

Anne Health is planning to operating as a non-profit, and will take donations to help offer services to those who cannot afford the fees, so you can donate to them.

And they're open to shared care agreements with any trans friendly GPs willing to work with them.

Boosts very much welcomed  and please do share the word with family, friends, and loved ones

Edit:

Thank you to everyone who's boosted or commented at all. We totally agree that right now it's going to be too expensive for most trans people, but right now for supportive parents / guardians of trans youth, it's pretty much the only alternative to GenderGP

We absolutely know that for most people, this won't be for them. However, we just wanted to let you know it's out there, even if it's not something you or people you know can currently afford. And maybe, just maybe, if they can get some big donations from those with wealth who care about trans healthcare, they might be able to reduce costs or offer some stuff for free.

All we can really say is that it's one to watch

Proposed next goal in capitalist regulations:

You want to write off a film/tv show for tax reasons? Or withdraw digital content from being on sale? Go ahead. Oh, but you are compelled to release it to public for free in perpetuity.

You sold a product which relies on servers which you now wish to turn off for cost saving reasons? Go ahead. Oh but now you are compelled to publish all your code and provide a way for consumers to run their own server so their products remain usable.

I was daydreaming today.
Imagine how useful it would be if political parties used GitHub or similar to track manifesto/minister/budget changes and track progress on promises made in their manifesto.

In true “no thought is original anymore” fashion, it turns out this was covered a couple of years ago by someone on medium and they delve much deeper into it with snazzy examples:

You’ve probably come across version control in word processors or collaborative web docs. Version control tracks changes by providing a new ‘revision number’ to your edits and makes it easy to…
