one thing that unites British and Irish households is that if you go into the kitchen and open the mug cupboard you will find an incredibly chaotic collection of mismatched mugs, built up over years, many of which are ONE person’s mug that nobody else can use

anyone who has a set of perfectly matching tea mugs and nothing else is a psychopath or a spy

Dead Man's Walk, Newgate Prison, City of London. Prisoners would walk down this grim corridor on their way to their executions, with each arch getting narrower and narrower, symbolic of the approaching end. The last part - known as 'Birdcage Walk' - was roofed with wire netting, offering the felon their last glimpse of sky before they were hooded. Executed prisoners were buried beneath the Walk's flagstones, so the condemned were literally walking over the dead. Though Newgate is long demolished, Deadman's Walk is now part of the Old Bailey courthouse and is said to be heavily haunted. #gothic #history #London #crime #death #psychogeography #ghosts #paranormal
This weekend highlighted the many ways that Trump and MAGA are, well, deplorable. While sifting through the news highlights (lowlights?), I landed on eight different descriptors, with two SMDH examples each. People shouldn't be dying from vaccine preventable diseases.

But when you sow vaccine misinformation, this is what you reap.

A Texas child who was not vaccinated has died of measles, a first for the US in a decade

A child who was not vaccinated has died from measles in West Texas. It's the first death in an outbreak that began late last month and the first from measles in the U.S. since 2015. The school-aged child had been hospitalized and died Tuesday night amid the widespread outbreak, which is Texas’ largest in nearly 30 years. Since it began last month, a rash of 124 cases has erupted across nine counties. The Texas Department of State Health Services and Lubbock health officials confirmed the death to The Associated Press. The child wasn’t identified but was treated at Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock, though the facility noted the patient didn’t live in Lubbock County.
