Where Do We Go From Here?

So after my last post about whether X is still worth the effort, I’ve been thinking… if not there, then where? I already have Facebook, but let’s be honest—while there are some great author groups, a lot of them feel a bit cliquey. If you’re not already part of the inner circle, good luck getting any real engagement. Plus, the algorithm seems to have a mind of its own, deciding which posts get seen and which disappear into the void.

You know the drill: "You're just bitter because people don't agree with you," "This isn't censorship, it's accountability," and my personal favourite, "Free speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences!"

The Fine Line Between Censorship and Curation

After my last post, I shared it on X (and we all know what that has become) and was promptly called various left-wing insults—because apparently, I don’t understand the issue, blah blah blah. Which is ironic, really, because the entire point of my post was about the importance of free expression and the ability to have open discussions without immediately being shoved into a convenient ideological box.

Expression, Creativity, and the Strange World We’re Living In

I was reading about Mickey 17 the other day and was genuinely surprised to see the controversy surrounding it. Some commentators are calling it a brave move by film studios to release it at all, given how it seemingly flies in the face of the new establishment in the USA. And that got me thinking… Since when did it become so dangerous to express ideas that don’t toe the party line?

Well, well, well… look who’s finally remembered they have a blog! Did anyone even notice I’d gone? No? I’ll just pretend you did. So, where have I been? In short—work. I started a new job, which has been a whirlwind of learning, adjusting, and trying to look like I know what I’m doing. And, as a result, my poor blog has been gathering virtual dust.
